I would take it back off clean it and inspect for cracks. I used the red sealant on a dual carb setup while I was waiting for a gasket to come in. It worked well so I never replaced it. Been on there for several years.
I'm going to sell that engine soon but unless I need to remove the manifold for some reason I won't change it. Be cautious not to over apply it. You want any "squish out" to be on the outside.
